How and why did we get started?

My friend asked me to take a soap making class with her, and I agreed as it sounded like it would be interesting. While working with lye seemed intimidating at first, I found I really enjoyed the process. I started collecting supplies and then started making small batches of soap at home. After multiple attempts and dozens of different recipes. My family and I kept using the soaps we made, and making notes on what we did and did not like about each recipe. Eventually we found a soap we all really enjoyed.

Once I narrowed down the ingredients I wanted in my soap, I began to change the recipe to make it my own. Everyone found they enjoyed these handmade soaps more than they liked the traditional liquid shower gels we had always used. I eventually ended up with more soap than any family needs, and found myself in a predicament... I had way more soap on my hands than what we could possibly go through. We started to give soap to family and friends - and got a lot of positive feedback...  Several friends asked about other products - like body scrubs and body butters, so I dived into that. Other friends started asking about beard products, so I started playing around with those.

This all resulted in friends and family wanting more of the products I was making and suggested that we start to sell the products. So that's exactly what I did.  

I love the products that I make. I love that I am able to control the ingredients we are using, and the results are amazing. Added bonus - I absolutely love making my products.
